The Rector’s letter…
Revd Jonathan Hillman writes…
I, like you, have many questions and very few answers as the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to escalate. It is very hard not to feel fearful of all that may be. Many have expressed deep anxiety as life has been forced to change; self-isolation driving us further into loneliness, the possibility that we may have already said a final farewell to loved ones, the economy on the brink of a meltdown, empty shelves replacing abundance of choice and now it feels as if Church has shut up shop and gone home…
St John’s is open for public worship
We warmly invite you to join us
as we gather together in person and online.
9.00am – Communion
(St John’s Church & Live Stream)
11.00am – Zoom Coffee
We gather in St John’s for this 9.00am service of communion. For those who are unable to join with us in person this service is also lived streamed on our YouTube channel. The stream goes lives around 8.50am on Sunday and is available to watch below.
Our worship is classical in its style and we use pre-recorded videos of members doing our readings and prayers. Although we are not yet permitted to sing in church we use videos of hymns produced by SJB Choir and music group. Following guidelines we currently only share the bread! All the words for the service are projected onto a large screen for us all to join in with.
If you are joining us online the words of the service are also on the stream so you are able to follow, and join in if you so wish. (The Minister usually says the words in yellow type and all are invited to join in with the words in bold white type).
If you wish for something a bit different why not join us for Online Church instead – details below.
You are warmly invited to join us for this week’s Online Church. Online Church consists of a YouTube playlist of worship songs, readings, thought (sermon for those more used to church language!) and prayers for you to use and access throughout the week. If you wish to play it all the way through simply click on the large video and it will play through (a bit like being back in the building!).
All our previous playlists are available on our YouTube Channel.
However you use these videos we pray that you will be aware of God’s loving presence with you.
If you are not seeing the latest playlist please refresh your browser as this usually sorts the issue.
We join together every Sunday at 11.00am for coffee – Zoom style!
If you would like to join us for this time of coming together please contact us via email or better still send us a message on our FaceBook page.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
We are pleased to say that weddings can take place within St John’s following the government’s guidelines.
If you are interested to find out what a service with us looks like in the present circumstances we would love to hear from you and share how we can help you arrange your special day.
Bereavement & Loss
Funeral services can be held in St John’s for up to 30 guests being present.
Please contact us to find out how we can support you in bringing together a funeral service for a loved one. We are also here to walk with you through any time of significant loss.
We are aware that due to the current situation and travel restrictions (!) many of our regular readers have been unable to receive the Windlesham Magazine.
We have therefore made it available to all online…
