DESCRIPTION:\nAdvent Reflection\n\n\n\nEveryone is invited to a seasonal look at the history of the Virgin Mary in art. \n\n\n\nWe will discover that she first appears as the mother of Jesus painted on the walls of the  catacombs in Rome about 200 CE. She then reappears in mosaics in churches in Byzantine Empire and then during 11th and 13th century as the Queen of Heaven in places such as Notre Dame in Paris and in the stained glass in Chartres cathedral .\n\n\n\nFrom 1300 to 1700 during the Renaissance and Baroque periods, Mary became one of  the most important subjects in art in Italy, France Spain, Flanders and Germany  We will see her as a  girl and a mother and the object of great veneration for her sacrifice and suffering.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nN.B.
