NADFAS Children's Church Trail
Monday, 24 October 2011 19:16
NADFAS - The National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies - has produced an excellent church trail for children (of all ages!). Sheets with questions about St John the Baptist Church can be found at the back of the church near the south porch, together with some answer sheets for adults. Do try it out.
Toy Bags
Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:22
At the back of the church we have toy bags for our very youngest children to use during services. Periodically these bags need a good sort out, as the toys get mixed up between bags and some of the toys also need to be wiped down. A number of the bags themselves are also beginning to look a bit tired due to the amount of use they get!
Could you help? Can you sew? It would be really fantastic if:
- somebody could take responsibility for keeping the bags in good order;
- we could have some new bags to replace the older ones.
We’d be happy to provide the materials! Come and have a chat with Jo.

Operation Christmas Child
Monday, 08 November 2010 10:56
Young people at the Friday night Youth Club spent time on club evenings during September and October making notebooks, jewellery and puppets, as well as wrapping shoeboxes all towards the Christmas Shoebox appeal that Windlesham supports so generously every year. Parents kindly donated other items and money towards the boxes.
The young people also watched a DVD all about the work of the charity and the lives of some of the children who receive the boxes.
Kids Kip for Charity
Saturday, 10 July 2010 08:04
Young people from Adventurers and Youth Club joined 20,000 participants taking part in the Giant Sleepover on Saturday 19th June, giving thousands of parents the night off! All together over 500 groups snoozed their way through Saturday night, breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest sleepover over 24 hours, while raising money for children’s charities and good causes. Midnight feasts, gossiping, giggling, and late night whisperings were all the order of the day (and night) with events taking place in the UK and abroad.
The Giant Sleepover has grown from just one school’s commitment in 2003 to a well established annual event and now a Guinness World Record this year. Outside the UK sleepovers took place in Australia, Bermuda, Brunai, Germany, New Zealand and the Falkland Islands.
Alongside the world record, the Giant Sleepover raises money for charity. This year Youth Club and Adventurers voted to support three charities: York Road Project - supporting homeless people in Woking and one of St John’s “Focus onFive” charities; Rainbow Trust – providing emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness; and CLICSargent – caring for children and young people with cancer and their families. Our sleepover raised over £250 which is being shared equally between the three charities - well done to all who took part.
