Village Events

The village benefits from a large playing field which houses a Pavilion with kitchen and changing room facilities, and a wonderful playground for children aged 0-12 years.
The Windlesham Field of Remembrance is owned collectively by villagers and is managed by a Committee of local volunteers. The Committee has charitable status and organises regular fundraising events to enable plans for a new pavilion building to be developed, and the playground to be maintained.
The village also stages two annual events at the Field of Remembrance: the pancake races and summer fete.
Pram Race
The Windlesham village Pram Race is one of the days of the year when almost the entire village gathers together and supports dozens of fun-runners as they push their themed prams on a jolly pub jaunt around the village to raise money for local good causes.
Established in 1968, the Pram Race has become a highlight of Boxing Day celebrations for villagers in Windlesham, attracting supporters from much further afield.
Full details about the race are at www.pramrace.com.
St John's regularly puts up a team of runners so come and join us – and join in the fun! See Who's Who for details.
Pancake Races
The Pancake Races are great fun for children and competitive parents! Teams of children race each other with their frying pans and pancakes and can win the much coveted trophies and titles.
Different organisations in the village help to organise the event. The church provides some very welcome refreshments. It's not just a good way to get the village together, we also raise money for local good causes at the same time. There's no need to register in advance, just come along on the day.
Summer Fete
The village Summer Fete takes place each year in June at the Field of Remembrance. As you would expect there are plenty of activities for all to do, lots of local stalls and competitions as well as dancing and other performances in the main arena.
