Field of Remembrance Events
The village benefits from a large playing field which houses a Pavillion with kitchen and changing room facilities, and a wonderful playground for children aged 0-12 years.
The Windlesham Field of Remembrance is owned collectively by villagers and is managed by a Committee of local volunteers. The Committee has charitable status and organises regular fundraising events to enable plans for a new pavillion building to be developed, and the playground to be maintained.
The village also stages two annual events at the Field of Remembrance: the pancake races and summer fete.
Pancake Races
The Pancake Races are great fun for children and competitive parents! Teams of children race each other with their frying pans and pancakes and can win the much coveted trophies and titles.
Different organisations in the village help to organise the event. The church provides some very welcome refreshments. It's not just a good way to get the village together, we also raise money for local good causes at the same time. There's no need to register in advance, just come along on the day.
This year's race is on Sunday 14 February at 3pm at the Field of Remembrance. Just bring your pans and pancakes (and some warm clothes as it's usually pretty chilly) and join in the fun!
Summer Fete
The village Summer Fete takes place each year in June – this year it will be held on Saturday 12 June at the Field of Remembrance. As you would expect there are plenty of activities for all to do, lots of local stalls and competitions as well as dancing and other performances in the main arena. More details will be posted on the website nearer the time.
