Electoral Roll
The Electoral Roll of the Church is the closest thing the Anglican Communion has to formal Church Membership. Its principle use is to enable members to vote at the APCM - Annual Parochial Church Meeting - and specifically to elect PCC and Deanery Synod members. However, it is also an important expression of the common life of the Church.
In addition, those who live outside the Parish but are on the Electoral Roll are able to marry at St John's. However, if you live outside the Parish and want to come onto the Electoral Roll, you have to have been worshipping at St. John's for a minimum period of 6 months.
Normally, the Electoral Roll is revised every year in preparation for the APCM.
While you can join the Electoral Roll at any time of the year, you will not be elligible to vote at the APCM if you apply within 2 weeks of the date of the APCM.
To stand for election at the PCC you must have been on the Electoral Roll for a minimum of six months, unless you are under the age of 18.
