St John's Guild is a Christian group for women over 60. We meet monthly in The Link - and it's is a great way to make new friends or catch up with old ones. We invite a diverse and interesting range of Christian speakers to come and share their knowledge and expertise. Our annual tea party at the Rectory garden is a highlight of the year.

We love to have new members join us as they can add a new dimension or view on our discussions so please do join us on the second Tuesday of each month at 2.30pm.

Golden Years

If you are one of our cherished older residents in the village, getting about may be more of a challenge than it used to be. It may be difficult for you to walk very far or you may feel alone or isolated from family living elsewhere. We want that to change. We can offer practical support through our Windlesham Caring service and fellowship by welcoming you to our church family.

Having a routine and keeping in touch with friends in the village and the church family can make a huge difference to your sense of wellbeing and sense of belonging. Just knowing that there is someone to talk to on the 'phone, to pray with, to worship with, to enjoy being in the company of others who like you find it a great source of comfort being with fellow Christians. If you are interested in coming to any of our church services but find it difficult to get to church then please contact the Parish Office where they can often hook you up with drivers. Or, if you don't feel up to it then you don't have to miss out. In a few weeks you will be able to listen to any of our sermons online by downloading the latest audio podcast.

In addition, many of our older residents choose to Holiday at Home together on a regular basis. You can find out more here. And for ladies, there's also the monthly St John's Guild meetings. We hope to see you very soon.

Holiday at Home

Everyone needs something to look forward to. That's why so many of our older residents come along to our Holiday at Home activities. Open to men and women over the age of 60, Holiday at Home gets older people together regularly at The Link and St John's Hall throughout the year to enjoy film shows, lunches, Christmas carols, readings and so on. In the summer a whole week of activities is organised so you really can Holiday at Home.

Windlesham Caring

Windlesham Caring is a voluntary-run service by members of the community for those people living in Windlesham who need help at home or with transport. Volunteers help with a wide range of needs, from keeping you company at home to walking your dog, or with transport to and from appointments, shopping or other errands.

Volunteers use their own cars as transport, and whilst there is no charge for this, donations are welcome to cover costs or help support the life of the church. As a guide, suggested donations to local hospitals - Frimley Park or St Peters - is £4.00 for a return trip. More local journeys would be less.

Using the Service

To use the service you just telephone 01276 452900, from Monday to Friday between 10.00am and 12noon. A message will give you the name and telephone number of the person taking calls that day for you to get in touch with. They will then take your details and arrange for a volunteer to help with your request.

Joining the Team

Such a service depends on volunteers and, and if you think you are able to give time answering the telephone - or the use of your vehicle – then please contact the Parish Office. Even giving two hours of your time a month answering calls is a great help and it can be really rewarding knowing that you have made someone's day.

Naturally we take care to ensure that people act safely and with due care and so we insist on all volunteers having a Criminal Records Bureau check.
